Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his forces will shoot down F-16s if the West gives them to Ukraine.
Speaking to Russian air force pilots, Putin said that the US-led military alliance has been expanding to the east of Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, but Moscow has no plans to attack a NATO country.
"The idea that we're going to attack some other country - Poland, the Baltic States, and the dreaded Czech Republic - is nonsense. It's just stupid." - Said Putin while relations with Washington are at their worst.
Putin's statement followed a statement made earlier today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba that the F-16 aircraft will arrive in Ukraine in the coming months.
Ukraine, now more than two years into full-scale war against Russia, has been looking for the F-16 for months.
Belgium, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands are among the countries that have pledged to donate F-16s. Many countries have also pledged to help Ukraine train their pilots.
